L1 Rocket

This was the first rocket I built! The design was made on OpenRocket Simulator, the body tubes and coupler were hack sawed, made from BlueTube and the fins were designed on CAD and laser cut from pine.
This was a competition to reach 1600ft in the air (which was recorded with altimeters) and my rocket reached 1620!
L2 Rocket

In a combined effort, I designed and built an L2 rocket. This was far more sophisticated than the previous rocket, not only in size, but also in its components: containing an electronics bay, stratologgers with threaded rod securing components through the whole rocket

I worked on the wiring of the electronics bay and assembly of the rocket and fins. This involved a variety of hands-on skills including Dremeling, soldering, hack sawing, laser cutting and understanding the electronics of the stratologgers.
Liquid Rocket Engine

In Liquid Rocket Engine, this was my first experience in a formal engineering club so I gained a lot of my hands-on experience here. From starting off with nuts, bolts, screws, taping and Teflon taping and moving towards testing tanks at 200PSI and CAD modelling, I owe a lot of my foundations as an engineer to many hours in the lab. ​
Rocketry Calculations

​My second project was doing rocketry calculations for a potential intercontinental rocket from New York to Tokyo (at GreenSight during my co-op). This involved making a propellant list (relatively safe monopropellants were chosen) and using the rocketry equation and assumptions of intercontinental flight to calculate the final mass.
